Following Azerbaijan’s September 2023 offensive on Nagorno-Karabakh, the EU announced the re-allocation of 15 million euros from its annual programming for Armenia for budget support purposes in order to address urgent socio-economic needs and support purchasing food and fuel. This builds on humanitarian assistance to the tune of 10.45 million euros announced by the EU before the summit and additional support provided by EU member states (Germany, France, Greece), as well as the mobilisation of up to 2.6 billion euros in investments under the pre-existing Comprehenvie Economic Partnership Agreement.
President of the European Commission also announced that preparations were underway for a “Joint EU-US event to support Armenia”. Furthermore, the Armenian Prime Minister’s office stated that the EU and Armenia will further cooperate on democratic reforms.
